Philosophy
Our driving principles, values and beliefs
Elements
Flame
Every child is born with a tongue of fire that helps them see and show the world in a unique light.
Our task as educators is not only to preserve that flame, but to cherish, nourish and let it shine in the best possible way.
Flow
Creativity flows like a stream, sometimes small, sometimes large, with many undiscovered springs along the way.
Our path as educators is to help learners find as many springs as possible.
Grit
Growth requires breaking ground. The seed perseveres to break the ground to sprout above while seeking nourishment with a surge below.
Our call as educators is to prepare the ground with enough nutrients, till the soil and let life blossom.
Thirst
Human civilization and well-being are fueled by a desire for meaning. This desire is a deep thirst not for wealth, power or fame, but for purpose.
Our service as educators is to make the learner aware of this thirst and point at the many oases that may perhaps quench it.
Wonder
The quest for knowledge is a never ending expedition with trips of “why?” and stops of “oh” with a few pauses of “huh” interspersed.
Our journey as educators is to sow the seeds of wonder to welcome the whys, lay the stones of discovery to facilitate the ohs and mischievously smile at the huhs with delight :)
Tenets
People, especially children get attached to and motivated by activities that involve playful interactions. Our approach to designing learning experiences involves taking hard concepts and transform them into engaging activities.
Once the learners develop a deeper connection with the idea, working on the the harder parts becomes intrinsically fun.
Inquiry Before Instruction
Instructions are great. But carefully placed tidbits of inquiry before the delivery of instructions results in a thoughtful, creative and discourse oriented learning community.
Meaning Over Mechanics
Emphasizing principled understanding over repetitive mechanics lays the foundation for learners capable of scaling the pyramid of learning to reach their peak creative potential and graduate as innovators.
Our curriculum connects disparate subjects into applied learning experiences. Subject wise learning is optimized for large scale delivery of structured education. Learners are deprived of the understanding about how the subjects are not meaningless silos but one connected whole.
When we focus on creation as a means of triumph, not only does it empower the learner to think deeply and apply their understanding, but also provide a fertile ground for receiving, providing and processing critique. Collaborative opportunities also multiply.
To learn is to wonder, feel, analyze and evolve. Without sufficient grounding in history, philosophy, poetry and ethics, humans are incomplete.
From fire to AI, agriculture to robotics, religion to behavioral economics, technological progress has made life more about meaning than mere survival.
With a balanced dose of humanities and technologies, we increase the opportunity for well rounded learning and thinking potential to emerge.
